The U15s moved a step closer to defending the English Schools’ Cricket Association National One-Day Cup after a convincing semi final victory over Marlborough College.

With temperatures soaring, the match began early and Taylors’ were invited to bowl first. The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’ opening attack immediately set the tone. Bowlers Arjun N. And Eshan C each claimed an early wicket  to leave Marlborough under early pressure. Disciplined bowling continued as Rishi M. and Arnav T. kept the scoring rate firmly under control. Arnav finishing with excellent figures of 2 for 19. Rian M. removed the remaining recognised batsmen with two quick wickets before Zak F. wrapped up the Marlborough innings with three wickets, one the result of a spectacular one-handed boundary catch from Cooper M.

In reply,  Haashir H. (U3rds) and  Arun M. (4ths) provided a composed start to chasing a target of 110. After the loss of two wickets, the experienced pair of Rishi M. and Cooper M. calmly guided Taylors’ home to a comfortable victory and second successive appearance in the national final.

Both schools managed the fixture superbly in the challenging conditions, ensuring all players were well looked after throughout the day.

This competition began with over 1,000 schools, so reaching the final is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the boys’ commitment and hard work throughout the season.

Supporters are warmly invited to attend the final, which will be held at Oakham School on Tuesday 7 July.

The good news does not end there. The U15 team has also reached the South East Regional Finals of the ESCA T20 Cup, which take place on Thursday 2 July.
